My Training and Thinking Blog

"...it seems like I'm in a negative-by-default state of mind, and it bugs me because that's not the way I want to be. I'll write in the blog, and try to stay 'up,' but I'm afraid that I may not succeed..." (me, Robert Wein, January 2012)

In the summer of 2009, after I woke from my medically-induced coma, they didn't know if I would ever walk again. Well, I've shown them. I am walking, and now I'm aiming to walk 5kms at Ottawa's famous Race Weekend.

This blog will track my thoughts about my training, and also offer me a space to share some of my other thoughts and insights.

Thank you all for your endless support to buoy me up!

Goals, Motivation, and Some Thoughts...

Yesterday, I went for a spin at The Point (click here for its website or here to get its Facebook page), and decided to do two walks as opposed to one.

The first will be in May, for "us," and the second will be in September to raise both money and awareness for Pathways (a rehabilitation service for people with cognitive damage of whatever sort).

I'm falling behind in my training, and my hamstrings are incredibly tight, but I'll keep trying.

I also made another decision, though it might be un-reachable for a long time.  I have decided to do another triathlon, though running isn't feasible, and I haven't put my face in the water, so swimming will be a huge deal.  I sent a note to a lifeguard with whom I have done swimming lessons before, and asked her what the feasibility would be for swimming lessons in the summer.  Wow, I'm going to be busy...
